What is your return policy? 
For detailed information, please select the merchant policy link at the bottom of every page on this site. All genuine butterfly items are final sale. They are too fragile to send back and forth. Since they are pieces of original art, some of them are created as they are ordered, that means you won’t always receive the same butterfly as the picture shows. They are very good representations of what you will receive. Mother Nature creates our butterflies, allow for her slight differences, please! Is it safe to use my credit card online at Peruhand.com ?

Using your credit card to shop at Peruhand is extremely safe. (http://www.paypal.com), employs the latest encryption technologies to ensure that your credit card information remains private.

Paypal.com transactions are protected by the highest levels of security available and ensure complete and total privacy for Peruhand’s online customers. Not even Peruhand employees have access to your credit card information. Using your credit card affords you the added advantage of knowing that, in the event that there is a problem with your purchase, the credit card company will remove the purchase from your bill and Peruhand will not be paid.

How long will it take for me to receive my order?

We deliver your order in about 2-4 weeks. The amount of time that it takes for your order to reach its destination depends on two factors. One is the type of product you have ordered and another is our products are handmade and are not stored in warehouses in mass quantities. There are some occasions when orders must be specially made, and this can present delays in the shipment of an order. In the event that your order must be specially made, you will be contacted by e-mail and informed of the nature of the delay and the expected time frame for shipment of your order.

How Peruhand ship my order?

We ship our products by international Certificate mail, a function of the Peruvian postal service operated in cooperation with postal services throughout the world. Read more

How do I track my orders?

If you already have your tracking number and want to find out the status of your package, you have to call your local Mail Service and tell your tracking number. They will give you information about your order or you can contact us to orders@peruhand.com and we will give you the status of your order.

Can I pay by check or bank transfer?

You can pay by check or by bank transfers in the case that you make a especial request of one product or if you are a wholesale customer.

Can I make a special request for a product?

Yes, we can provide you with a special product. For more information contact us to orders@peruhand.com  and in your request, please include much information as is possible about the product that you would like to purchase at Peruhand.


What is your policy on returns and exchanges?

In the unlikely event that we process your order incorrectly or ship you a defective item, we will take back that item and replace with the original product, with no additional charge or if you want a full refund within 7 days of purchase. Returns will be gladly accepted for up to 5 days after the date of receipt.

What if I do not receive my order?

Be sure to indicate the correct mailing address when you are filling out your order form. Peruhand is not responsible for items that have not been received due to an incorrect address or change of address. If you have not received your order and would like to check the status, please contact our Customer Service Department at orders@peruhand.com (be sure to note your order number and e-mail address, and verify the correct mailing address). A customer service representative will check our records to determine when your order was processed and mailed.

Will Peruhand ever give out my personal information to third parties?

Peruhand respects your privacy and thus will never release any personal information (including your home address, e-mail address, and phone number) to any third party. Peruhand is 100% Privacy Guarantee.

How can tell the actual size of a product?

As you know, pictures can be deceiving. For that reason, it is very important that you look at the size of a product before making a decision about whether to purchase it.  You should be very careful when picking out products. We want to offer you the best possible perspective of a product’s appearance and detail, and sometimes this comes at the expense of providing a true representation of the product’s actual size. All products do come with size and weight specifications, however, so be certain to make that one of the things you check when viewing a product.

Products are individually handmade 

As all of our products are individually handmade, all sizes given must be considered as approximations, and minor imperfections and slight variations in color or design from items depicted should be expected.

Delivery Policy

We are not responsible if you do not receive your order if you provide us a wrong address. We sent all our package by certificate mail that mean the someone have to sign at the moment to receive the package. If you think that you or other will not be at the address that you provide us to receive the package please contact us to send the package by other service if you do not do that we are not responsible if you do not receive your order. If you will move to other address and you don’t tell us, we are not responsible if you do not receive your order. The mail will try to deliver the package until 3 times in the address that you provide us but if not find any person at the address, we are not responsible if you do not receive your order. Butterflies

How many butterfly species are there worldwide? 
It depends how the count is made exactly and how the different species and subspecies are treated in the count. In a careful estimate, there are about 14 750 known butterfly species worldwide.

What is the purpose of the butterfly’s life? 
The purpose of the butterfly’s life is to reproduce, to maintain life.

How long do butterflies live for?
By marking butterflies then recapturing or sighting them later scientists gain information on how long butterflies can live. An average butterfly species has an adult life span of 2 weeks or less.

Where our butterflies come from? 
Most of our butterflies are common species in the jungle of Peru, as the commoner ones are bred more easily in large numbers by the butterfly farms in this country. All of the species we have are captive bred, originating from South America.

Where do you get the butterflies? I’m not sure I like the idea of collecting a wild butterfly. Doesn’t that harm the environment? 
Butterfly collecting is a fantastic thing to do to preserve rainforest and support indigenous people. It actually saves the wild butterfly population, too.

How long will it take to ship my order?
For the majority of real butterfly orders, between 2 to 4 weeks. We create them depending of the butterflies availables at this season. Preparing the butterflies for display is very time intensive. We will notify you by email if we feel there will be an unusual delay. Occasionally, a particular butterfly becomes suddenly unavailable. If you order both at the same time, they ship together when the display is ready.

How long will my butterflies last? 
Years, if you care for them carefully. Instructions for care will come with your order.

Can you send me a paper catalog? 
We chose the internet as our catalog because of the dynamic nature of butterfly stock. We can have plenty of a specific butterfly one day, sell them all the next and not be able to restock for as long as a year! Also, we add so many new items regularly that paper can’t keep up! Please email us with any special requests.

Why are the antennae and bodies removed on the butterflies in frame?
We have learned, by trial and error that it is possible that they will break off inside the box ruining your display. All of the morpho’s must have their bodies removed because they contain a toxin that will destroy the wings over time.

Can you sell unmounted specimens?
Go to the “Contact Us” page tell us what you want or email: orders@peruhand.com. We’ll let you know either way.

How to Care my butterfly frame

Our displays are easy to clean: Just dust the wooden frames as you would any other frames. If the glass needs cleaning, simply use glass cleaner. We suggest using a cloth or paper towel moistened with the glass cleaner, rather than spraying it directly onto the glass.

These amazing specimens have been specially preserved to allow for decades of decorative enjoyment and education, provided they are treated properly. The preservation technique allows the specimens to stay crisp and beautiful for years to come and they will not crumble or fall apart. Along with this special preservation technique, you too can help the butterflies retain their beauty even further. Just follow these simple suggestions to enjoy these gifts of nature for years to come.

  • Avoid prolonged, excessive heat. As a guideline, it’s ok to put them in a window, as long as that window doesn’t get too hot for you to sit in front of for the entire day. Long-term, direct sunlight may cause the specimen to fade and/or deteriorate at an accelerated rate and may cause the glass display to fog. Please also avoid storing the displays in an attic or any other area that can get extremely hot.
  • Do not display your specimens in a bathroom that lacks a venting fan. Heavy steam causes humidity, which with prolonged exposure, could damage the display and/or cause the butterflies to deteriorate at an accelerated rate. Although the glass used in our displays is very secure within the frame, it’s not airtight. We’ve had customers use clear caulking sealant to make the frames airtight, and we hear this works well.

An artificial full-spectrum light source is recommended if you wish to highlight the displays with feature lighting. Full-spectrum bulbs are readily available at most garden and pet supply shops, as well as hardware stores. Our displays are beautiful with regular room lighting; the extra lighting is just a suggestion if you really want the stunning colors to really stand out. The displays look great hung up on any color wall.

Alpacas

Do you kill alpacas?

Some alpacas died a natural death in the harsh Andean winter. They can be used for food for locals, and their fur is worked to make ethical and sustainable products. Alpacas are very important to the andean communities, culturally and economically. The farmers do not kill their alpacas for their skins because it is not financially viable. Alpacas promise a lifetime of shearing potential of far greater value than a single pelt.

Almost 80% of alpaca fiber worldwide being produced in Peru. So, when you buy something made with alpaca fur, you’re supporting a Peruvian alpaca farmer, and wearing an eco-friendly material.

How is the alpacas life?

Alpacas are part of a family of four South American camelids, they can live up 17 to 20 year .  They are incredibly photogenic and friendly animals. Alpacas are free in their native habitat, the Andes mountains or live in farms in Peru.

What are natural color of the alpacas?

Usually alpaca´s hair comes in 20 different colors, from white to brown and even orange or gold.

How long does my alpaca product last?

With the proper care and cleaning of alpaca garments can last for years. The alpaca natural fiber is stronger, softer, lighter, and warmer than either merino wool or cashmere.

Does the alpaca fur produces allergy or itching?

Alpaca fleece is famous for its luxurious softness and doesn’t scratch or “prickle” the skin like wool products. It’s also hypoallergenic since it doesn’t contain lanolin and oil generated by sheep that can cause sensitivity in people with dermatological disorders.
